Can Medicare help cover Speech Therapy?

Yes! Some children and young people may be eligible for a Medicare rebate towards the cost of Speech Pathology.
Connected Speech Therapy accepts eligible Medicare referrals for online Speech Pathology Australia-wide.

Medicare for Stuttering & Speech Sound Difficulties

Medicare funding is now available for eligible children and young people with:

• Stuttering

• A speech sound disorder

• Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS)

• Dysarthria

• Cleft lip and/or palate

Eligible clients can receive Medicare rebates towards Speech Pathology assessment and therapy.

How to access it

We’ve made the process super easy!

1. Simply, bring this guide to your next GP appointment.

2. Your GP completes the attached referral form

3. Email the referral form to us yourself or ask your GP to do this

4. We’ll be in touch to book you in for your first session!

How does payment work?

You'll pay for your Speech Pathology appointment and receive the documentation needed to claim your eligible Medicare rebate.
Medicare provides a rebate towards the cost of the appointment, so an out-of-pocket cost may still apply.
